My nephew Bret made me a pair of earings. Aren't they awesome?

He's 6 (stop growing Bret, I can't keep track!).

How did he know I love pink and when I spied all the earings that he made that these were the ones I coveted?
Bret, are you psychic?

I love them and wore them right away. Thanks Bret. You are awesome.

What we are doing for FHE tonight. I'm plastering this scripture all over the house to remind me the qualities I want to have. These are all qualities I want to work on as a mother, friend, spouse, leader, neighbor etc.

I want to abound in good works:

Alma 7:23-24

And now I would that ye should be humble, and be submissive and gentle; easy to be entreated; full of patience and long-suffering; being temperate in all things; being diligent in keeping the commandments of God at all times; asking for whatsoever things ye stand in need, both spiritual and temporal; always returning thanks unto God for whatsoever things ye do receive.

And see that ye have faith, hope, and charity, and then ye will always abound in good works.

Sean scares Michael

The whole thing is cute (of course)....but pay attention to 1:15 where Sean scares the living daylights out of Michael. Enjoy......

Hot, hot hot day

Oh, my. We had a few HOT, hot, hot days. It got to be 108 degrees on this last Wednesday so Sean and I decided to put our Season passes to the Folsom Aquatics Center to one more use. Dominic brought a friend along to play with and since school is in session (we went after school was out) there weren't as many people there. It was probably the funnest day we've had there. Its too crowded in the summertime....like REALLY too crowded.
This was Michael's first time getting in the pool water all summer. He enjoyed it and kicked and kicked and kicked. I didn't want to put sunscreen on him though, so we just stayed in this part of the pool where the shade was.
Michael is so much thicker than my other kids. He has a barrel chest.

Dominic and Davis swam around and dove for things. They had so much fun together, I'm pretty sure they were worn out by the time we left.
My friend invented another kind of nursing cover. I don't ALWAYS use it, because I've found that by the 3rd, I'm a lot less concerned about it. However, Michael is a very MESSY eater and I often find myself spraying milk everywhere and leaving myself EXPOSED. TMI? So, this cover has been so nice because I am completely covered, front and back/top and bottom. Its especially nice at the pool where I am extremely uncovered when nursing.
See how big he's getting (Michael)?
He is such a happy baby. He gets so happy, you can tell he just wants to wiggle out of his skin.
Pure muscle

Penny was jumping into the pool with Daddy. She was being such a goof saying, "one, two, three!" and jumping with her arms in the air. When she got out she would stick her finger in her ear to get all the water out. At one point she ran up to me to show me that her hands were all "sprinkley."

Getting some air time with Daddy. I wanted him to throw me in the air but he wouldn't. I love the look of pure joy on his face.
Splashing Daddy

I'm not sure what gang signs they are flashing, but they sure had fun swimming together!
Cleaning the water out of her ears.

Family picture

Dominic did this drawing before Michael was born. It was supposed to go on a t-shirt for all 3 kids, but that didn't end up working out (we tried!). Anyways, look at that good looking family! He loves to make art on the computer.

Bed time

This is what Penny does in her bed at night for close to an hour, sometimes more. Even if we tell her to turn off her light and do nothing, she just talks and talks and talks. This way, she's at least developing a reading habit. She LOVES to read and every night I have to go in and take all the books out of her bed. This picture looks pretty tame, some nights I take close to 20 books out from around her. She stuffs them under her pillow and over the edge.

Her favorite books right now are:

The mini version of Polar Bear, Polar Bear What Do You See?
The Berenstain's B Book
Micky Mouse Clubhouse (in picture)
Grouches (a sesame street read along book with CD)
Duck on A Bike
Goodnight Gorilla

Dominic started reading Harry Potter a few nights ago. He's already on page 40 and loving it. He wanted to read it last year, but I didn't think he was ready for it.........perhaps he was all along and I'm just holding him back? We'll see. When he finishes it, it will be the longest book he's ever read (He's usually around the 150 page books).

He started school on Wednesday. He has team teachers, meaning he has two teachers that trade days. One teaches Monday Wednesday and the other teaches Thursday Friday and they switch Tuesdays. They have the reputation as being the nicest teachers in the school........which hopefully still translate into pushing the children to work hard and do their best. So far, he's loving 3rd grade!

Michael did his first laugh today. See video below. We all love this baby so much! It was just yesterday that I said that laughing must be right around the corner. Yay for milestones!

I'm eating lunch...so why not blog

Reading a book to the two little ones. After I was done with this one, I read it again, only it was the board book instead of the mini book. Penny likes that she has two books that are the same story. =) Michael actually already enjoys looking at the pictures in a book. He gets really focused and excited and will follow the pages when I turn them.

He LOVES his thumb and he makes so much noise trying to find it. Its so cute how little they are when they can find their thumbs. We rarely need a pacifier because his thumb is always there. =)
We got a new vaccuum that has a good filter in it (right up there with the Kirby's, which was what Sean wanted). Our other one was super old and everytime we vaccuumed, our house stunk like the vaccuum (it had a particular smell...I don't know what it actually was). I love canister vaccuums because it is so easy to go from cleaning carpets to cleaning kitchen floors. They also don't tip over on you when using the attatchments (seriously, I used to get so mad when the vaccuum would fall on me). Our old vaccuum was a canister vaccuum and I fell in love. Am I spelling the word vaccuum right? It looks funny.
I cannot get enough thumb sucking pictures of this LITTLE guy. Both Sean and I sucked our thumbs when we were little.....except, I didn't stop at being little. I think I sucked mine till I was 8 or 9 at bed time. =) One of my thumbs is skinnier than the other....its the one I sucked on.

Annie, do you recognize these jammies? You bought them for Dominic when he was a baby. =)

Dominic played some catch up at friends' houses yesterday since he was gone all summer. Which left Penny and Michael home with me all day. Penny wore leggings which she said looked like her happy cast.

I asked her to jump and I Love what it did to her hair.....hee hee. =)

Michael was just super cute all day and super smiley. Penny loves to play with him and claim him as hers. Apparently I'm just the secondary mommy.
Laughing must be just around the corner because he gets so happy that he almost wiggles out of his skin when he smiles.
Oh, I love him.
This is a really long video, but I couldn't stop it...he was just being so yummy. =)

Lotus Park

The day Grandma Hirt went home was quite hectic. I had forgotten that Sean had a dentist appointment and so I had to take all 3 kids with me in the car to the airport. The airport is 40 minutes away, so it was 80 minutes in the car round-trip. Which is no big deal as long as Michael isn't crying. He started crying as soon as we got to the airport and pretty much cried the whole way home. I stopped at one point to nurse him, but that only stopped the crying for 5 minutes more afterwards and then he started up again. At one point he was crying so hard it upset Dominic and I had to explain to Dominic that he just wanted out of his car seat but in order to get him out, we had to get home. That he would be fine, he just was letting us know how much he wanted out. As hard as Michael was crying, I almost felt worse for Dominic, because he was trying so hard to help him not cry and I know how frustrating that can be.
My sweet, sweet boys.

So, needless to say, when Sean called me in the car and asked if we wanted to go to Lotus Park that night and invite some friends I didn't want to go. I was a little stressed out and the thought of going somewhere else was a bit overwhelming at that moment. Sean said he thought we needed to go anyways. So we did, and some friends met us there. It was fun.
I roasted marshmallows for smores over a heat cell. Wish I would have gotten pictures of that but, it worked....and on a day like that, it was all that mattered.

I asked Penny what her favorite part of the park was and she said, "riding the seahorse." Thanks Levi for pulling the girls.
The rapids. I found some yummy blackberry bushes near here. I picked a few handfuls and the kids and I ate them. Yummy yummy.

The boys kept pretty busy splashing eachother and wading in the water.
It really was pretty. The water was low until the "bubble" from the dam made it to us. I guess rafters ride the bubble down and it gets there around nightfall. It got a little deeper and deeper as the night went on but never was TOO DEEP. It was perfect.
This is where Michael hung out while I made smores. He was pretty chill. He's such a good baby.
These girls kept BUSY. Their sand castles were pretty sad (it wasn't really sand....) but they were proud and that was all that mattered!

These make me smile

Grandma Hirt and the kiddos. These make me smile.

This has been dubbed as "Eva's Bed." Its fun to lay in it while it inflates and deflates. Its a pretty cool bed (queen size)....and its pink. So Penny thinks its the PERFECT bed.......aaaaaaaand only makes sense that its Eva's bed since pink is her FAVORITE color too. =) Lately Penny's been telling me, "and we can get another house mommy. It will be pink and blue. Blue is my next favorite."

Won't that be a pretty house?

Penny Grandma and Courtney came to visit this last weekend. Gma and I spent A LOT of time painting...and playing tag team with the kiddos. She was a huge help and because of her, I now have my kitchen painted as well as my laundry room finished (including all 5 doors in my laundry room). Whew.....

Here are the CURLY GIRLS. Michele (Sean's cousin), Penny and Courtney.
Michele O'Brien, Penny Matteson, Courtney Matteson
Penny's new expression. Its very proper.....its called a frown smile and she does it ALL the time.

Wouldn't you like to have your own personal person to shade you from the lights? Penny thought the light on Michael was too bright, so she put her hand on him to shade him from it while they talked to each other. So cute. Funny thing is, it actually helped....whereas, when she tries to do this for herself, it rarely works.....
He's also a huge thumb sucker.
Jumping rope with her new hat from Penny Grandma.
Silly faces before church on Sunday. And yes, she wore this necklace too.

Gotta get your tie on for church. This was the last time he'll be able to wear this without cutting off circulation.
My mom is in town. Let me repeat,
I rarely get to see my mom. She's only here for a few short days, but I love that she's here. We went to the farmers market and the park today. Then we're off to Cameron Park Lake in a bit once Penny wakes up.

She loves her little squishy.
Gma Hirt and little squishy:

I'm not making enough milk for this guy (and he's starving, can't you tell). He gets about 4-6 ounces a day of formula by bottle. Dominic was thrilled to feed him. We're so happy to have Dominic home. He's cheerfully helping out around the house and we've been having a lot of fun playing. Welcome home bud!
He was talking to one of his friends on the phone yesterday for about an hour. He's a pacer. If he's on the phone, he's on the move.....even if it means pushing a pink stroller.

You're silly Dominator.
