October

I just now realized that I completely forgot September. I will get back to that. Right now, it is late and I want to finish this post so that I can finally catch up with blogging. I'm still not there, but close. Picasa is on the fritz and I cannot upload pictures to many things online but blogger is letting me without crashing my browser, today. So, I'm running with it (even though its late).

Dennis is becoming very enthralled by toys and colors and FOOD! He is such a good baby, sleeps through the night and naps well during the day. If he fusses, he's either poopy, hungry or tired. And when he fusses for those things its really no big fuss. He's really dreamy and the kids make him laugh so much. He bring so much joy to our house. He is our little chill bug.

Michael is obsessed with bandaids. In fact, to him they are just stickers meant only to COVER owies no matter how big or small. I happened to have a small scrape on my ankle. Michael took care of that for me. Good thing too cuz he left it on for a whole 15 seconds before he found a more important need for it (his wrist).  I love him.
Catherine came over for some much needed playtime and I put those girls to work with a worksheet, some Q-tips and some paint. They had fun with this activity. It was a different way to print the alphabet rather than use a boring pen, but it didn't allow for precision.

Michael was hard at work too.

Dennis got his first dose of baby food in mid-October. I started with rice cereal, which he gagged down a few bites of, and then decided to make my own. Other than mashing bananas and/or using my hand cranked baby food mill for mashing food on the spot, I've never MADE baby food in bulk. So I thought I'd give it a whirl cuz well, lets face it, I have nothing to do, right? So, I steamed some carrots with some zucchini and pureed them in the vitamix and then into the freezer in ice cube trays. I also did a batch of applesauce in ice cube trays as well as defrosted some frozen peas, pureed them in the vitamix and then froze them in ice cube trays. He LOVES these. I just take one cube of each and sit it on the counter till it is thawed and feed it to him. He gobbles up the whole thing now. I've also pureed the leftovers veggies from making chicken stock and mixed those with a little applesauce and he gobbles that right up too.

Home made baby food is really easy when done this way.
Uhm, Gerber baby anyone?
I mean at 5 months and 21 pounds, food is a pretty important part of your day. You don't get this cute and chubby by sitting around all day playing with toys and stuff.
When its bedtime for Michael no amount of TV will keep him awake.
Not even AFV.

Two sleepy babies. Dennis is getting his night-time snack and Michael is getting his night-time snuggle.

Penny wanted a smoothie mustache. I suggested smoothie handlebars as well, to match Daddy.
I asked Dominic to help watch Dennis for a minute while I finished up dinner. I think Dennis thinks the X-box controls look yummy.
Three kiddos on one beater full of chocolate, chocolate cookie dough. Heaven

Want to know the best recipe for chocolate chip cookie dough? Follow these directions:

2 eggs, beat for 2 minutes on high
add 3/4 cup brown sugar and 3/4 cup granulated sugar. Beat for another 2 minutes on high.
Add 1 cup softened butter and beat for another 2 minutes on high.

Then add:
2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp salt
1 tsp b. soda
3/4 cup cocoa (if you want regular cookie dough just omit the cocoa and replace it with white flour)
almost 2 1/4 cup white flour

beat on low then medium till fully mixed, then add:
1 cup chocolate chips

mix again

Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes (DON'T OVERCOOK or they will be hard! these are meant to be super soft cookies). Let slightly cool then transfer to cooling rack.
You're welcome.

My kids (and I) are kinda obsessed with these.
We purchased the Button the Mouse books at a vendor in Apple Hill (the author and illustrator set up shop and sell there, husband and wife). They are great, GREAT stories about a mouse who meets a problem in each story. He prays to God for help in each book and learns great lessons along the way. I am in love with these books and my kids are too.

Michael read so many with Great Grandma that he got sleepy and couldn't help but crash.

We all love some Dennis time. He gets so goofy.

Daddy loves his kiddos. I love this picture.

Isn't Dennis cute in this picture?
But wait, that's Penny. See?
He's fat like Michael was but looks just like his sister.

I have some really cute videos I want to post, but my browser crashes every time I try to load them to youtube. Hmph.
