SmooDies

Smoothies are an amazing favorite at our house. These veggie and fruit laden drink are not only healthy but, I promise, they taste delicious.  Our favorite one as of late is:

spinach (3 big handfuls)
kale (1 small handful)
peaches
strawberries
1/2 apple
1/2- 1 orange with some peel on it
1 pickling cucumber
1/4-1/2 avacado
coconut milk
carrot juice
prune juice

And to prove that my kids will drink and actually like these I posted some pictures of them drinking one.
They do get sick of them sometimes, but I find if I change something up in the ingredients or have them make it instead of me do it , they enjoy it more.
We have these about 3-4 times a week or more.

She likes that it gives her strong muscles

Dominic is really aware of healthy foods and requests smoothies more often than we make them. He understands the value of eating fresh and is so curious about foods and health. I like it. During our school day, if he gets in a funk he has figured out that stopping and making a smoothie is more efficient than trying to fight the funk.

Also to notice is that he got some DC attire for his birthday. He loves DC and was elated to say the least. He didn't want to take his DC hat to Alaska because he likes it so much and didn't want to lose it. But, knowing how much he likes it I told him to take it and if it got lost, ruined or whatever.....we could always get another.  He was quite happy.

Michael is probably the one  that drinks smoothies the most. He comes running whenever he hears the vitamix. He loves smooDies

I like to drink mine from a mason jar for some reason. It just tastes better that way.

And since we're talking fresh foods, check out my score from the farmers market last week.
Can't wait for grapes to be in season. Farmers market grapes are outta this world.

I love smoothies too. I make them healthy for the kids but Matt insists on concentrated juice and sweetened yogurt for his. It's sad that I have to wait for fresh fruit to be more affordable, i.e. strawberries, raspberries, peaches.

Love the green mustaches!
